Who We Are & What We Do

“Stewardship/evangelization involves meeting someone where they are and inviting them into the divine adventure.”

Richard Burgdorf, Parish Council President

The Altar of God is the most widely used image throughout the Bible. The main altar stands in the center of the sanctuary in the church of Our Lady of the Holy Cross as it does in every Catholic Church.

Our Identity is Rooted in Jesus

The Paschal Mystery, that is, the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ is the core of our spiritual identity. We have a share in Jesus’ paschal life through the saving grace of Baptism and, especially, through our liturgical celebrations, as we break bread together each Sunday, the Lord’s Day. We are Christ’s Body—one with Jesus, one with people of all walks of life, and one with those we accompany during their most challenging moments.

Jesus Christ by our side

We are Jesus’ servant and friend as we touch the broken lives of our neighbors. Jesus is at our side, and we are yoked to him. We are drawn to others, and we aim to accompany our brothers and sisters who share in the wounds of Jesus.

Our Lady of the Holy Cross parish volunteers are happy to serve a neighboring nursing home with a weekly Communion service. In December of 2019, just prior to the 2020 pandemic, volunteers sing merry Christmas to a jam-packed cafeteria.
